About the Club
The Access Committee for Thurrock is a voluntary organisation that seeks to work with the local statutory, civic and commercial sectors, in the interests of disabled people, to achieve the highest possible levels of access and inclusive design within the built environment and public transport facilities in our community.
Access Committee for Thurrock is an organization both run and for disabled people living in Thurrock. It is therefore an organization operating under the philosophy espoused by the social model of disability.
Access Committee for Thurrock acts as a vehicle for the development of disabled people in Thurrock by empowering them and thereby providing them with a voice of their own. It will empower them to identify their needs and expressing their views on the priorities and help them to evaluate services and advocate changes.
In doing these seemingly simple things it will raise public awareness of the barriers that disabled people face and it will help to speed their removal. At Access committee for Thurrock we are committed to provide a helpful in sight to access issues in the borough. We are in correspondence with the council and have access to both councilors and administration.
